Wash day @ 7 weeks post+ Ramblings!

The Wash

For this wash day, I went to Rose, my stylist. I'd wanted to prepoo with coconut oil but I wanted to give the protein treatment as a prepoo a second trial. Did it work out well? Read on!

I prepooed with Kanechom chocolate for 30 minutes under a deep conditioning cap.

2. Rinsed the Kanechom out and applied a mix of black tea, coffee and rosemary that I had in my spray bottle. I didn't want the mixture to go bad. Rose rinsed it out after a minute

3. Applied a generous amount of roux porosity control for about 3 minutes.

4. Followed up with ORS invigorating shampoo[see my review here].

5. Deep conditioned with Queen Helene cholesterol under hooded dryer for 15 minutes, and sat down for the hair to cool down.

6. Applied African Pride Sheabutter leave in

7. Rose trimmed my hair whilst rollerseting after which I sat under the dryer for about an hour.

Ramblings

I've finally decided I can't give my hair all the attention it deserves so am going to stop stretching my relaxers till I have more length! I'd wanted to transition but I've decided to do 8 weeks stretches to see how I can cope with the length. Don't get me wrong; I love thickness and I'll do everything I can to maintain it.

The root cause is the fact that this hair is short and requires a lot of maintenance. Even with buns and the rolls and tucks, I have to smoothen or brush it down regularly throughout the day. Else, it looks so unkept.

I find it difficult accepting that my scalp can never tolerate any tension in the form of braid and it's traumatising for me. I love variation but after almost 12 years of going through the same issue with weaves and braids, I have to psychologically accept this Truth. I'll still be washing my hair  but ought of volition and not necessity. I'l continue my rambling next time!

  4. Your rollerset is sooo smooth! What's your secret?!

And your comment about short hair is totally on point. I've wanted to slice my hair into a sassy lob (long bob) for years. But everyone that I know with that style makes me promise not to. Just because the hair is shorter---it doesn't mean that it's easier to manage especially as it grows out.

Thanks for sharing your #washdayexperience chica!

  5. I love the shine and bounce your hair has!! And you are definitely not alone, I can't tolerate braids (unless they're pretty loose) but my scalp is so darn tender headed :(

I totally agree about being tender headed because I haven't seen you in braids before.I guess I have to follow your steps and do away with those styles.
