Wash Day; No Comb Method!

I did wash my hair and decided to try the no comb method throughout the process. Here's what happened.
1] Applied jbco mix to the hair before finger detangling. I had to work in sections because my hair easily gets knotted.
2] Applied sheamoisture coconut and hibiscus shampoo to help with the detangling; I didn't add any water to the hair. If I add water before detangling, then, I'm in for a long section. However, using a product with slip minus water works well. That's why I used the shampoo and oil. I shampooed twice to get rid of build up. I'd clarified during the month so there was no need to do it again.
3] Deep conditioned with Aphogee 2 minutes reconstructor ( see how I use it here) and my review here
4] I left the deep conditioner on for about 3 minutes, rinsed and didn't follow up with any moisturizing deep conditioner for two reasons. First, I was feeling too lazy to do 15 minutes of keracare humecto as it meant coming back to the bathroom to wash it out. Also, I wanted to test how my hair woikd feel like minus the moisturizing deep treatment.
5] I applied eya naturals leave in lotion and sealed with Afroriri hair butter.
On the whole, I don't think I'll bother following up the aphogee with keracare humecto; instead, I'll alternate between the two each week. My hair stayed moisturized even without the moisturizing deep conditioner. If you have relaxed hair, do test this method and see how it works. The aphogee 2 minutes is a light protein deep conditioner and may not leave the hair so hard compared to the 2 step protein treatment.
I,then, twisted the hair and created a twist out.
I'm going to continue experimenting with different techniques and products on my hair and I hope you enjoy the ride with moi!

  1. I try to not use comb most of the time. I love the progress you are making.

  2. My comb gets NO love anymore. I ditched it over a year ago and I haven't looked back since. Believe it or not, I'm better able to detangle (and keep my hair detangled) without it!

Thanks for sharing your #washdayexperience chica!

  3. I want to try a denman brush; if it doesn't work out, back to fingers.
