Wash Day: Two Heads Of Relaxed Hair

-->  Be forewarned that today's post is a bit lengthy. When I gathered my arsenal to crack down on my hair for a wash, Nyira decided to attempt her first wash. Funny enough, she had started reading about deep conditioning on Tonkabelle's site. Nyira is fascinated with the success of the ladies on the various hair blogs she visited and wasn't going to take a "no" for an answer. This is what she did:
  1. Pre-pooed with sheabutter
  2. Wet her hair in the bathroom. She's had braids for a couple of weeks and needed to thoroughly clean and condition her hair.
  3.  We used BO-16 shampoo, which contains  a milder sulfate.
  4. She, then, applied Dark and lovely Ultra cholesterol for 7 minutes. She was pleased with how her hair felt so soft and kept massaging the hair from time to time as the product worked.
  5. She took a break by taking her shower and washed out the deep conditioner.
  6. She applied Queen Helene cholesterol, put on a plastic shopping bag, a shower cap and tied it down with a scarf. Her fear was that the cap will come off at night.
  7. In the morning, she rinsed the deep conditioner out and applied leave-in and oil mix. Since her length is too short for any rollers, she tasted her first air drying.
On to my hair:

I decided to try the BO-16 shampoo to get rid of product build up. What I did was:
  • Pre-pooed with sheabutter
  • Wet the hair in the shower

  • Applied shampoo twice. Let me quickly say that this shampoo did not strip my hair like I thought it would but rather, it felt moisturized (if shampoos can do that). It has a bit of slip, which prevented tangles and it didn't foam so much, possibly the reason why it didn't strip the hair. It is thick so a little goes a long way.
  • Rinsed out the shampoo, applied dark and lovely ultra cholesterol and took my bath.
  • Rinsed out the dark and lovely and added the Queen Helene cholesterol. Let me explain that the weather is pretty dry to I want to have enough moisture in the hair. I, also, go out more often in the day, which means the scorching sun hits the hair more often.

  • I covered the hair with two black shopping bags and shower cap.

This morning, I washed the deep conditioner and rinsed the hair with apple cider vinegar. I added MVP leave-in and dark and lovely anti breakage oil moisturizer (this has ceramides). I, then, detangled.

Nyira got creative with a head band whilst I took the flexi rod route. I'll post the results in the style of the week.

That's a mouthful but hope you enjoyed it!
