Does Zincovit Grow Hair?

Whilst taking zincovit might seem a bit of the norm,  a friend has used it and noticed increase in growth.

Do You Heat Your Conditioner?

Image
The heating of conditioner is something I learnt from a hair blogger where you heat only the deep conditioner you'll be using to make it  warm for application. This heating isn't new to me; I used to  do it with queen helene cholesterol using warm water as directed. This time,  you rather put the conditioner in the warm water. After trying this with  the Cantu sheabutter for natural hair Deep Treatment Masque,  I just had to find a way to incorporate it in my regimen daily. [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="680" caption="Sheamoisture products available in the shop"] [/caption] In addition  to speeding up the absorption of the deep conditioner,   I found that the deep conditioner had extra slip because of the added oils which were also heated in the process. These two benefits of heating deep conditioners  before application can save you time and money as well as make your wash days easier.

3 Subtle Causes Of Hair Breakage

Image
When we talk about hair breakage,  one of the things we do is to stay away from combs and heating tools. However,  there are subtle causes of hair breakage that need to be addressed. The first is your nails. When your nails are broken, it can snag your hair casting breakage. Little snags here and there will in due time become visible damage. Trim or file the ends of your nails before washing your hair. The second subtle cause of hair breakage is your moisturizing and seeing technique. Most often,  moisturizing and sealing in sections is key to preventing breakage. However,  care needs to be taken when sectioning the hair,  either with combs or fingers as the process itself can cause breakage. If you run your ends vigorously in the name of getting the hair to absorb products, you are creating room for broken ends. The last one is how you sleep. If you toss and turn like me,  then,  take measures to ensure your hair is in a satin cap,  loosely twisted or bunned. When you cover with the c

Wash Day With Sheamoisture Superfruit

Image
When you are 5 weeks post relaxer and your hair turns out great after wash, you can definitely appreciate the products that made it possible and in my case,  it's the Sheamoisture Products. First,  I'd wanted to pick up the Sheamoisture Superfruit 10-in-1 renewal system but my girl picked up the conditioner instead of shampoo. I can't blame her because both have the same look. What turned out to  be a mistake, it's a blessing! When I took the Superfruit, I thought it was a shampoo till I read the package. However,  I couldn't do anything about it so I shampooed once with diluted Sheamoisture African black soap shampoo. This was the moment of truth; I've not tried any Sheamoisture conditioner before so I was quite worried about a wrong outcome. I took the plunge and applied the conditioner. Aside smiling,  I was just like '' oh'' and '' wow''. The conditioner worked wonders. It's very thick,  has slip and not strong scented. I

How To Choose Tampons

Image
Since I've talked about the different types of tampons,  let's look at the absorption capacity. I use the lil-let tampons and they  come in regular,  super, super plus and ultra plus. See more here . Choosing one or more depends on the flow. For light or normal flow,  lite to regular can be used. It's indicated on the package so don't worry. For medium to heavy flow,  super or super plus can be used. It's advised to change the tampons as indicated on the package. Don't leave it beyond the recommended time if you want to prevent leaks. You can  change  every 3 hours like I do just to be safe. The first two days are usually heavy so a heavy absorbing tampon is ok. As the flow tappers off,  you have to switch to regular ones. Also,  you can use a panty liner to catch leaks. However,  be sure not sleep with the liner or leave it for long periods. You can also switch to sanitary pads when at home. I do that for days 4-5. Let me know if you need furt

Afraid Of Tampons?

Image
If there is a hygiene product that a lot of Ghanaian ladies are afraid of or aren't aware of,  it is the tampon. What is a tampon? For me,  I describe it as a piece of absorbing material wrapped and shaped like an inhaler,  that you insert to absorb the flow. There are two types of tampons; applicator and digital. The applicator tampon is inserted using an applicator like a yeast infection vaginal cream. I think when Ghanaian women think of tampons,  they see an applicator type. When I began reading on the tampons,  I realized I couldn't do with an applicator because it seems the digital was straight forward to use and I was right. The digital tampon (first picture) simply requires removing the wrapper and inserting it as if you are pushing it back towards the anal region. The thing about tampon is that if you don't insert it well,  it's uncomfortable. Another thing to note is that tampons come in different sizes -  the one I use is about 6 different sizes, from regular

Scentless Hair Products

Image
Ever since I fell ill,  my sense of smell has been  heightened, something I can't seem to understand. Usually, I'd apply a mild scented product just for the hair to smell good but lately,  fee absence of any scent is most welcomed. An example is the ors hairepair moisture cream that I still can't stand. I mean I used to think being pregnant back then was the reason for the dislike for the smell but now,  I'm definitely not pregnant. My nose just doesn't like the  scent though it's not unpleasant. When I pass my hands through the hair,  I'm glad I don't smell anything afterwards. I'm not sure if the sickness has anything to do with this change; I most certainly wouldn't want this to be permanent as I love my hair to smell good. Even my favourite cantu sheabutter lotion seems to put me off. I'll just ensure this and hope it's a temporal change.

Tampons Or Pads?

Image
Growing up as a girl in Ghana,  the only thing I knew was Sanitary  pads. Pads have been part of us for ages and if one were to pop in the backyard shop,  you can easily pick up a pad. However,  tampons are a different story. After suffering from leaks for all these years,  I decided to take the plunge and try tampons! My verdict? Where have these been all these years? I mean pads are cool but tampons, for me are awesome! Let's look at the pros and Cons of both. Pads: Depending on your flow,  a minimum of two packs are enough. Yazz and Forever Easy come with 12 pieces of 6 large and 6 small for heavy and light flows. For me, I could use 3 packs! Pads are easily accessible. You can get one anywhere,  anytime which makes it more convenient. Leaking is a huge headache with pads and worse for me is having to sit down. The number of checks we do when we get stand up is hilarious sometimes. You may need to change pants more often as a result of leaks which means more was

Hair Vitamins Won't Give You Healthy Hair

Image
Lately,  hair vitamins have become a go-to  for ladies on a healthy hair journey with the assumption that  these vitamins will give them the healthy hair they want. Let me bust your bubble and point it out that  taking mane choice,  hairfinity, nature's bounty or whatever vitamins won't give you healthy hair. What will give you a healthy hair is a proper hair routine/regimen as well as shampoo,  conditioner,  leave in and oils. These hair vitamins only aim at increasing hair growth; what's the use of getting growth only for the hair to break off due to improper hair care habits. The same thing applies to using Jamaican Black Castor Oil In the hopes that your hair will be healthy overnight. These oils won't work if all you do is continue treating your hair in the old ways. Get a hair regimen and use the  hair vitamins to supplement your efforts. I don't depend on theses growth  aids to get strong and healthy hair; I use hair products and techniques daily and weekly t

Baking Soda Honey Mask

Image
The baking soda honey mask was a recipe a friend shared when I noticed her skin was smoother and clearer. I simply had to  try it and at the end of the day,  I didn't regret it all! I'm also glad it's part of May Skin care goals. Simply mix a tablespoon of honey and a teaspoon of baking soda. I added some aloe vera gel too. It feels like a facial scrub when using the mix so I guess that's a double benefit there. I applied the mix on dry skin but wet skin is probably better. I scrubbed the face gently and rinsed with cold water. I followed your  with  a lotion moisturizer which I use when  I want to wear make up. I use oils at night  time instead. My face felt  smooth  and soft after rinsing. I have three more treatments with this mask and I can't wait to do them!

Removing Make Up With Oil

Image
I don't have a make up remover because I wasn't keen on one until I began wearing make up daily. Now,  before I pick up one,  I still need to improvise so I use opted for removing make up with oil. How does that work? I pour the oil on a cotton shirt or micro fibre towel and use it to clean the face. The oil sticks to the make up thereby removing it from the face. Just as oil and water do not mix, the oil on the face doesn't cake there Lol. I follow up with my homemade facial scrub,  witch hazel and acne  treatment. My facial scrub is a homemade one too until I find time to go to the drugstore to pick up one of my favourite scrubs. As we celebrate the season of resurrection, let's remember to remove our make up before retiring to bed. Don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube - www.youtube.com/EmprezzAbena

Clean And Smooth Acne Treatment

Image
A few week ago, I embarked on a facial care journey. One of the products I use in combating acne is the clean and clear acne pimple medication. This is an update of the facial treatment for 23/March. I poured the oil mix on a micro fibre towel and whipped the make up off. I washed with Forever Clair wash and cleanse. I applied honey lemon scrub and left it for some hours. With the honey lemon scrub. I washed the scrub off and applied witch hazel and followed up with clean and smooth acne treatment for the night. The clean and smooth acne treatment deserves a full review so I'll only say that it's been amazing product. I've increased my water intake so I can use the washroom more often. This gives the body the opportunity to eliminate toxins from the body.  Give or take, in about a week's time, my skin will be back to normal again leaving the scars as my focus. The lesson here is to take precautions when using biotin. You need to flash out excess biotin from your body to
