African Pride Sheabutter Leave in Review

After using the African pride sheabutter leave in for several months now,it's about time I share my views about it. Back in the day when I started my hair journey, I bought a liquid leave in conditioner which was quite good for roller sets but not for air drying. However, due to my limited knowledge about ingredients in hair products, I continued to do trial and errors with my leave in conditioners; hoping to find one that my hair will love as well as help with air drying. Because of this search, I've used a good amount of leave in conditioners but none could really give me the desired results. One day, I was chatting with another blogger who mentioned that her sister has been using the African pride leave in conditioner and was really in love with it. What caught my attention was when she mentioned that it had slip and was very moisturizing too. The last thing I needed was a leave in conditioner with protein so I was very excited to give the African pride a try. I read ...

10 relaxer application tips

Over the years, I've leanrt some things about relaxers and today, I share 10 relaxer application tips. 1. Don't mix lye and no lye at the same time 2. Always neutralize properly 3. Protect previously relaxed parts using petroleum jelly or sheabutter to prevent the relaxer being washed out from processing the already straight part. Simply put, relaxer over run can cause thin hair and breakage. 4. Know your texture so you choose the appropriate relaxer. 5. Follow instructions 6. Always deep condition after relaxing to restore either protein or moisture back into the hair. You can use either a moisturizing or protein based deep conditioner. 7. Don't mix different brands of relaxers 8.Let your stylist know what you want 9. Store relaxer properly 10. Avoid relaxing in the afternoon: you tend to sweat when the weather is hot. Sweat can cause your scalp to get irritated.

How to moisurize your hair under weave

Hi ladies, hope you are doing well with the last bit of stuff to end the year. Well, since I got the weave, I've had questions about how to moisturize your hair under weave. Obviously, wearing a weave or sew-in requires the same attention as wearing your own hair out. Neglecting your hair under the weave will result in dry, brittle hair and even makes taking the cornrows down a tedious task. The reason  why most people loose hair when wearing weaves is mainly because the hair beneath the weave is not moisturized. In the video, I show how to moisturize and seal in the moisture whilst wearing a weave. 5 ways to use apple cider vinegar on relaxed hair

I've been using apple cider vinegar in my regimen since I started this hair care journey. I also get questions about how to incorporate apple cider vinegar into a regimen.   Based on my personal experience, there are 5 ways you can use  apple cider vinegar on relaxed hair.  After neutralizing shampoo : When you use apple cider vinegar after using a neutralizing shampoo, you are basically using it to lower the pH of the hair. The pH is a measure used to determine the acidity and alkalinity of a substance. The scale is represented by numbers ranging from 0 to 14 where 7 is neutral. Greater than 7 on the pH scale is more alkaline and less than 7 is more acidic. The pH of hair ranges between 4.5 – 5.5. Lye relaxers range from 12 – 14 and no-lye relaxers range from 9 – 11. (source: Design essentials ) That means you need to use a neutralizing shampoo to bring down the alkaline levels toward a more neutral level. Apple cider vinegar is acidic and theref...

Difference Between Prepoo and Hot Oil Treatment

[1] The difference between Prepoo with oil and hot Oil Treatment? To me, the basic difference is that prepoo with oil is done before shampooing whereas hot oil treatment can be done any time without necessarily having to wash the hair. [2] How do I  protect previously relaxed hair before relaxing? I use either sheabutter or my oil mix. I use roux porosity control conditioner when I have it. You can also use regular vaseline to protect the scalp and the already relaxed hair. [3] What i s your favourite moisturizer? So far, the African pride olive miracle anti breakage moisturizer lotion. [4] Why do you use a sulfate free shampoo? I was curious to know how it will reduce dryness considering the absence of sulphates which dry out the hair.

Product review: ORS Aloe Shampoo

New packaging This review should have been done a long time ago as I've restocked about 3 times; not too late though. I've had this shampoo as part of my stash since 2011 I think and my views about it today haven't changed. Full name:ORS Creamy Olive oil Aloe Shampoo Price: 20-25gh Old Packaging Purchase: Any cosmetic shop My Thoughts: 1. ORS aloe shampoo is a Multi purpose shampoo you get value for your money. This is a neutralizing, chelating and clarifying shampoo. For those suffering from hard water, this is for you. If you use a "box cream", i.e. no lye relaxer, you can use this to get rid of the calcium deposit which tends to make the hair dry and brittle after relaxing. You can use it to get rid of product build up. I use it for all these purposes. 2. Slip: awesome slip which leaves my hair tangle free. 3. Easy to pour out though it has a thick consistency. This thickness makes for easy dilution and that still doesn't affect its effectiveness 4. Nice ci...

Beautiful Textures Tangle tamer leave in review

For those who've been following my blog for ages [lol], you know my struggle with finding moisture based products. Fortune smiled on me when I discovered the beautiful textures tangle tamer leave in. I've been using this for some months now and it's time to let you in on how it's been working for me. In the review, I explain it's ingredients, how I use it and how my hair responds to it. Please, don't forget to subscribe to support my channel. ou For those who can't view the video, here's the text. Purchased: 22gh My Thoughts 1) Slip: enough to allow for easy spread. I haven't used it for detangling because once it sinks into the hair, the slip reduces. 2) Consistency: thick and creamy in colour 3) I use it daily too and it still doesn't weigh the hair down. 4) Smells good and does linger for a while. 4)Quantity: a little goes a long way! I really gauge it when pouring in order to control the quantity I use. 5)There are oils in it so I add just a...

20 Tips For First Time Pregnant Women

This is something first time pregnant women ask me as a first time mom. Am going to share what I've learned so far. 1)Buy few newborn clothes. I purchased only 4 jasmine dresses and three 0-3 months onesies. (Cat suit/overall). Your baby might be too big for the newborns. Then 3 pieces of 3-6 months size. This is enough to use for the first few days you may not be able to go out. My baby used the newborn overalls for only a few days and we switched to the 3-6 months size. He still wears the jasmine on hot days. 2) Buy as many baby wipes as possible even if you want to use cloth diaper. I've come to love supa santi wipes. I used up a pack within 2 weeks. Read More
