How To Retain Length In 12 Weeks

This is going to be a simple breakdown of 5 things you can do each week to retain length. Tip 1  Aim for a low manipulation style. I'm not all about extentions and low term protective styles if your hair is past shoulder length. It allows to you deal with your hair at least once week to give it better treatment. For naturals, you may not need to wash weekly but bi monthly wash will do your hair more good.  Tip 2  Consider hair mists to keep the exposed parts of your hair moisturized. When I wear buns, the exposed hair gets drier whilst the rest of the hair stays soft. Using a hair mist will compensate for the moisture loss.  Tip 3 Deep condition your hair. You can do the double step - protein deep conditioning, followed by moisture deep conditioning.  Tip 4 Pay attention to the ends. Prwbent breakage at the ends of the hair. This part is fragile for the reason that it's the oldest part of the hair hence has experienced more exposure. Tip

4 Ways To Moisturise Your Hair

There are several options available for moisturizing and sealing your hair. You'll need to try them and find what works for you.  Method 1:Using your leave in conditioner (Especially if it is creamy or lotion). Apply to the hair and follow with an oil. Do this daily if you have to in order to keep the moisture in the hair.  Method 2: Using a hair moisturizer. If you are using Ors hairepair, S curl no drip moisturizer or the Hawaiian silky 14 in 1 moisturizer, you can spray it first and follow with the oil. Method 3: Use a very light leave in conditioner like the Creme of Nature Argan leave in conditioner  or hotfro leave in conditioner first, follow with your oil or butter and then follow with a creamy moisturizer like the Ors hairepair moisturizer or a styling creme. That's the L. O. C method.  Method 4: You'll use the light leave in conditioner or water, apply the Ors creamy moisturizer or hawaiian silky moisturizer and then your hair oil or butter. This is the L. C. O me

Wash Day for Week 1 February, 2020

I'm going to be more detailed in this wash to help you understand how I wash my hair. This will be a series so stay tuned. To wash, I use any shampoo available. I have hotfro shampoo and groganics shampoo I alternate. I use one shampoo per week as a first step to wash my hair either home or at the salon.  Assuming you are using any of these, the Doo gro tingling shampoo will be step 1  Step. 2. After rinsing off the shampoo, I follow up with the hotfro conditioner or groganics conditioner and leave for 1 minute and rinse out.  Step 3. At this point, I apply the hotfro leave in conditioner (Red label) or if I have mega growth leave in conditioner, I use that. If I have Hawaiian Silky moisturizer, I use that or S curl No Drip moisturizer or the mega growth anti breakage strengthener. I like to add the amla oil at this point or the hotfro oil mix before the rollers are done. Step 4. I don't use any oil in the hair again after it is dry. I use a hair pomade on the scalp, here, it c

DIY Tea Hair Mist

The caffeine in teas have been acclaimed to be effective in controlling excessive shedding hence I decided to make it a part of our hair growth boot camp challenges. You prepare the tea mist the same way as a rinse except I add oils to the mist. If you can't do the mist, the tea rinse is equally effective. Tea  You can use green tea, black tea or any tea of your choice. I, usually, advice using 1 tea bag first to make sure your hair loves it before increasing the quantity.  I recommend brewing enough mist for 7 days use.  Benefits  Shedding Increasing hair growth  Increasing thickness  Reducing hair breakage  Moringa, amla, Brahmi, Aritha, lemongrass and a lot more teas or herbs can be used the same way. Start off with one tea at a time to determine which one works for you.  With black tea, you should use a moisturizing conditioner or deep conditioner if you use it. It tends to leave the hair hard sometimes.

4 Wash Day Tips For Relaxed Hair

There are a variety of things you can do  to enhance your wash day experience. Prepoo treatment is not overrated. I know some bloggers don't see the need but do what works for you. When I ceased doing the Prepoo, I into get the same moisturized hair. Use heat to deep condition. Unfortunately, I know getting a steam cap is a problem but do try to get one for your hair. It makes a huge difference . Air drying in sections helps stretch the hair and leave you with smooth hair too. I don't worry about too much shrinkage during the air drying. Use detangling products especially shampoos and leave in conditioners to reduce knots and tangles when manipulating the hair.

3 Tips For Moisturizing and Sealing

Because the weather is pretty much dry, moisturizing and sealing is essential at this time of the year.  Last night, I co washed and went to bed with the wet hair. This morning, my hair was dry and crunchy and couldn't understand why. I skipped leave in conditioner and applied dark and lovely amla legend  oil moisturizer and then the cantu sheabutter hair lotion and sealed with coconut oil. Now, my hair was crunchy prior to the products and it was a not damp after using the lotion so I couldn't style it. It took about 10 minutes for the products to soak in but my hair was so soft and moisturized. The water from co washing had hydrated the hair before the moisturizing. My hair feels very thick and smooth and as a result I've learnt three tips that will take your moiayrizong game to another level. Moisturize and seal as soon as you wake up to give your hair time to absorb the products.I intend using a shower cap to facilitate the absorption. The products will be absorbed befo

Ways To Protect Your Hair This Harmattan Without Protective Styles

If you are like me and don't see harmattan as the time to wear wigs and weaves nor braids  then,  you have to develop a regimen that can provide you with moisture and fortify your hair against the  harsh winds and weather.  The first thing I recommend is decide on how you'll protect your ends from the harsh  weather. You can wear buns or roll and tuck in styles. You can also do halo braids with or ponytail with extensions to keep the ends from breakage.  You should also increase the moisture routines such as deep conditioning twice a week and sealing the hair with butters. Another way to protect your hair without weaves and wigs is to do green house effect or baggying about thrice a month.  My intention is to stop braiding when I can pull the hair into a good pony so if that  happens by December, then,  I definitely be weave and wig free for the harmattan like I used to do.

How To Prepare Your Hair For Harmattan

I have a post on the best protective styles for harmattan and 3 tips for harmattan. In today's post, I rather want to focus on how to prepare your hair for harmattan so you won't have any need to stress over your hair. These tips are what I also intend to do though some are applicable to those with longer hair than mine.  Baggying your ends at leat three times a week will provide the ends with moisture. My hair isn't long so I rather fold the ends into the pony to protect it. By December, I'll be using the baggying method too. You can also use green house effect to provide moisture for your hair. The  September 2016 challenge is green house effect so join it. I'll be wearing  cornrows beneath my wigs but will still make use of Green  House Effect for optimum moisture.  Get your moisturizing and sealing game on right  now ! I've discovered the Cantu sheabutter gel oil as a very moisturizing oil for my hair so I won't be dependent on the Cantu sheabu

How To Finger Detangle Relaxed or Natural Hair

Detangling shouldn't be a hassle if you know how to use your fingers to aid you. I often talk about this technique and so decided to demonstrate it. Apart from  using conditioner and oils in the detangling process,  your fingers will not only guide you to remove knots quickly,  they will also help you separate the intertwined strands.

Four After Braid Take Down Tips

After I took down the braid, I had to make sure the hair was in good shape after no moisture for weeks. I used coconut oil as prepoo treatment and washed with Sheamoisture African black soap shampoo and followed up with the Superfruit conditioner. I used Cantu sheabutter gel oil only for the hair to feel hard so I washed it out with the Cantu sheabutter Co wash. This brought to mine how to care for  the hair after braids so you don't lose length or cause breakage. Use coconut oil to aid with finger detangling. Using fingers and coconut oil will let the whole process go faster and with much better results.  Don't shampoo if you've not detangled. Putting  water in your hair will cause it to tangle more.  Use a wide tooth comb first to detangle before washing to remove shed hair too.  Deep conditioning after washing the  hair will restore both protein  and moisture so be sure to  use at least a bit if light protein.  These are the few tips that help me t

Wash Day featuring We Naturals hot oil treatment

I had to wash my hair but since I'd been getting questions about the We Naturals hot oil treatment, I decided to do a video of it. After the hot oil treatment, I washed with  Sheamoisture African black soap shampoo and deep conditioned with Cantu sheabutter deep treatment mask.  I used the Cantu sheabutter anti frizz foam leave in conditioner and set the hair on flex rods. That  result was really good as usual. This kind of styling makes it easy for me to wear my hair out during the  week. I got to wash the  hair when I can and apply oils to the strands regularly.  [Youtube=https://youtu.be/tUdqtvk5o-c]

3 Subtle Causes Of Hair Breakage

When we talk about hair breakage,  one of the things we do is to stay away from combs and heating tools. However,  there are subtle causes of hair breakage that need to be addressed. The first is your nails. When your nails are broken, it can snag your hair casting breakage. Little snags here and there will in due time become visible damage. Trim or file the ends of your nails before washing your hair. The second subtle cause of hair breakage is your moisturizing and seeing technique. Most often,  moisturizing and sealing in sections is key to preventing breakage. However,  care needs to be taken when sectioning the hair,  either with combs or fingers as the process itself can cause breakage. If you run your ends vigorously in the name of getting the hair to absorb products, you are creating room for broken ends. The last one is how you sleep. If you toss and turn like me,  then,  take measures to ensure your hair is in a satin cap,  loosely twisted or bunned. When you cover with the c

Hair Vitamins Won't Give You Healthy Hair

Lately,  hair vitamins have become a go-to  for ladies on a healthy hair journey with the assumption that  these vitamins will give them the healthy hair they want. Let me bust your bubble and point it out that  taking mane choice,  hairfinity, nature's bounty or whatever vitamins won't give you healthy hair. What will give you a healthy hair is a proper hair routine/regimen as well as shampoo,  conditioner,  leave in and oils. These hair vitamins only aim at increasing hair growth; what's the use of getting growth only for the hair to break off due to improper hair care habits. The same thing applies to using Jamaican Black Castor Oil In the hopes that your hair will be healthy overnight. These oils won't work if all you do is continue treating your hair in the old ways. Get a hair regimen and use the  hair vitamins to supplement your efforts. I don't depend on theses growth  aids to get strong and healthy hair; I use hair products and techniques daily and weekly t

#1 Tip To Stop Biotin Acne Breakout

It's not everyone who takes biotin and goes Scott free with regard to acne breakouts so today,  I'm sharing my 1 tip to stop biotin acne breakout. Biotin has been known to aid in hair growth and nails growth. Personally, I've been taking biotin in different forms for about 3 years now and counting. [caption id="attachment_2897" align="aligncenter" width="300"] biotin[/caption] Biotin, although water soluble, can create havoc if taken in excess in the form of acne breakout. A lot of solutions have been given to curb this problem. The first suggest is to increase your water intake in order to dissolve the biotin in the system. Others also advocate starting from a low dose and gradually work your way up to a larger dose. Even though ladies try all these techniques, these seem to have yielded nothing. Recently, a friend complained about biotin breakout so I put to test what I'd suspected all this time and she had amazing results within days. A

Does Jamaican Black Castor Oil Grow Hair?

We continue with search terms that pop up and here's another interesting one. Does Jamaican black castor oil grow hair? The answer I'm going to provide to this question is based on my own experience. Jamaican black castor oil aka jbco has been a popular oil within the hair community. I started using the regular castor about 4 years ago. Now, I use the Jamaican black castor oil because there were claims that it was more organic than the regular or pharmacy castor oil. Well, I can definitely say that if you are consistent with jbco, you'll sure experience faster growth. I've used it to regrow my edges and though I haven't been consistent with it on my scalp, I can attest to the regrowth of the edges. I don't like the tingling jbco; what I had tingles so I didn't want it on my scalp. However, the tropical Isle brand doesn't tingle and that is what I used to regrow my edges. I'm on a castor oil challenge but haven't been consistently using it. I have

In as much as you want to enjoy the baby, the journey to having the baby can be a daunting task. You get tired, have sleepless night, feel heavy, and all you want to do is count the days your little one is born. Tresemme Naturals Moisture Conditioner Review

I purchased the tresemme naturals moisture conditioner because bloggers made me do it LOl! This conditioner is silicone free so I had to try it out for myself, a sort of joining the band wagon. I don't regret joining the tresemme naturals moisture conditioner hype because I saw positive results with this conditioner. It has even influenced me to seek out more silicone free conditioners! In the review video, I talk about the price, how I use it, how my hair responds to it and how it has also helped with moisture as it claims.
