Complex Wash Routine

What happens when you want to incorporate prepoo, tea rinse, hair mask, and other treatments in one wash? Let this guide you.

1. Choose the prepoo product you want to use. If you want to use oils, apply them and leave them overnight or for several hours. You may use coconut oil or olive oil. If you want to use honey, you can still add oils to it and prepoo. If you want to prepoo with a protein deep conditioner, that will be the first product to use on your dry hair. Some find this method more effective so experiment with it for a while to see if to works for you. You can still add a few oils to the deep conditioner or hair masque and then prepoo with it. When you are done with  the prepoo, shampoo the hair.

2. If your pre shampoo treatment was oils, shampoo the hair and apply your hair masque eg Ayurveda hair masque or store bought masque. If you prepooed with jair masque, then, shampoothe hair and use a rinse out conditioner to reinfuse the moisture depleted as a result of the shampoo.

3. If you want to do the tea rinse, you can apply the rinse right after you wash out the shampoo, leave for some minutes amd rinse out woth water before your conditioner or masque in step 2. You may choose not to rinse out the tea and apply the deep conditioner or conditioner and then proceed to rinsing out. You can also rinse out the shampoo, apply the deep conditioner or conditioner, rinse out and apply the tea as a final rinse or leave for some minutes and wash out with water.

4. After rinsing out your conditioner or deep conditioner, you can proceed to apply your leave in conditioner. If you didn't rinse out the tea or herbal rinse, you can still add your leave in conditioner and then follow with oil.

5. If you want to use clay masque, it comes in step 2 as a shampoo.

6. When you are done with the wash, you can either blow dry or air dry or roller set the hair.

I hope this helps you to choose your wash routine!

Right from the wash day, my attention has been on preventing moisture loss. This means from the shampoo process to the sealing process, each step involves maximizing moisture. I probably shampoo once every 2 weeks but I water rinse very often. This keeps the moisture levels up as well as keeping the hair less dirty.  I do well to sprit z the hair each morning before anything is done. With the new growth so thick, getting the hair damp is very crucial for moisture retention. I love length but moisture retention during this time of year is the key to a healthy hair. Another form of moisture retention technique I employ is ensuring that the deep conditioners and conditioners I use are moisture based. The Sheamoisture manuka honey conditioner is amazing at this and I really love.  The next thing I want to invest in i...

Placenta In Your Hair

Placenta or the popular brand, Placentyne leave in treatment has been with us for ages!  Keratin, which hair is made of, is a strong protein that can break down with sun exposure, wind, pollutants, daily maintenance, manipulation, heat tools, and chemical treatments like permanent color.
